Due to its vast surface area (32 ha), the Castell de Sant Ferran is the largest 18th-century fortress in Europe.
Built by engineer Juan Martín Zermeño between 1753 and 1808, the Castell de Sant Ferran was the scene of significant historical events, including the death of General Álvarez de Castro and the last meeting of the republican government.
Discover the history and all the corners of the fortress with the experience “The Cathedral of Water,” which will take you through the moats by jeep, into the giant underground cistern by inflatable boat, and through tunnels in the underground with the protection of a helmet.
